We’ve been working really hard to get ready for the Dunbar Craft Fair where we're going to be selling lots of yummy artisanal food items. The profits are going to go towards the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation KitchenAid Cook for the Cure Culinary Showdown!
The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is the largest funder of breast cancer research in Canada. Funds raised from the Culinary Showdown will support innovative research, education and support the women and their families who have experienced breast cancer.
The money we're working to raise will go to The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and if we are successfull I will also get an opportunity to participate in the Cook for the Cure Culinary Showdown. Thank you in advance for your helping us Kick Cancer’s Butt!
Together, with food and fundraising, we can help create a future without breast cancer!
Today we had the pleasure of heading to Abbotsford to visit EcoDairy, the first demonstration farm of it's kind in Canada. We were invited as part of Avalon Dairy's launch of their #traceablemilk line. We love Avalon because they care about where their milk comes from and how the animals are treated.
During today's tour we met the EcoDairy cows and learned the following fun facts:
- cow poo can be turned into electricity
- each of the cows beds at EcoDairy are made from 8 recycled car tires
- the average cow poos the weight of 5 small children every single day!
- EcoDairy collects their water from the rain water the runs from their roof
- cows can now get milked in 6 minutes or less with the new robot named Robbie
We have been working with Avalon for the past several months because we use their Organic Cream in our Creamy Tomato Pasta Sauce & they are so great to work with. We were able to watch our first batch of cream go through production and then pick it up at the end of the line. How fresh is that! How cool is that?! #knowwhereyourfoodcomesfrom
Want to learn more about where your milk comes from? Head on out to EcoDairy & see for yourself! & while you are there stop by Nature Pickin's Farm Market, it's right next door!
Back in April….
Wow! What can we say…. this is exciting! This ride started close to two years ago, Skylar pursuing his passion for cooking and me pursuing my passion for business planning & marketing… so many decisions have led to this path… that is deciding to take a shot at pitching our Kids Can Cook Gourmet business idea to the DRAGONS! A show we love and watch all the time!
We have been so busy studying and preparing for our venture into the Den – we hope they're nice but we think we are prepared, very prepared. Bring it on dragons!
Fastforward to TODAY…
What can we say, not too much... But we learned a lot, had a lot of fun & now we are excited to announce that our Dragons Den episode will be airing on November 18, 2015 – 8pm on CBC Television.
